Advanced Spent Fuel Reprocessing Equipment

NSA's experience base includes the design, analysis and development of equipment for the advanced reprocessing of LWR and Mixed Oxide spent fuel. NSA personnel have pertinent experience in the development of advanced head end systems including fuel bundle disassembly or fuel bundle shredding. NSA personnel have designed and developed rotating kiln voloxidation systems for separation of fuel from cladding material, and for extraction of gaseous fission products such as tritium from the spent fuel. NSA can develop process flow sheets for advanced head end reprocessing systems that include voloxidation and the required off-gas handling equipment.
